What should I wear to my session?
Bright, fun colors are great for outdoor sessions! Pastels are good for studio. For family portraits, different shades of the same color usually works wonderfully. Layers and accessories such as scarves and jewelry are a great touch to your photos. Try to avoid busy patterns and brand names, or tops with bold wording. For newborns, the best outfit is no outfit! For maternity, a button down shirt, spaghetti-strap, or tank top paired with denim work well for a contemporary look. Long maternity dresses are also great for a softer, more elegant look. If it's an engagement shoot, always bring the ring! How long does a session usually last? Usually sessions can last anywhere from 30-45 minutes for each wardrobe change/setting. I will shoot until I have more than enough photos for you to choose from! Where will my pictures be taken? Do you have any outdoor locations that you recommend? Sessions can be done at my home studio, or outdoors on location. I have many outdoor locations that I can recommend according to the kind of 'look' you want. If you have a favorite location, I am always willing to try new places! Travel of up to 25 miles is included in your session fee. Studio can also be arranged in the comfort of your own home for an additional $25 setup fee. What is the best time of day for outdoor sessions? When the sun is not too overbearing; early morning or 1-2 hours before sunset is the perfect timing for on-location shooting. Do you have a studio? Yes. I do have an in-home studio room - with backdrops, appropriate lighting, and other equipment. This is perfect for any type of formal portraits, newborns & infants, maternity, seniors, and boudoir. What color backdrops do you have available? I have standard white, black, and beige backdrops. More will be added soon! When is the best time to schedule a newborn session? The earlier the better! It is never too early. 6 days old is best, but usually no more than 2 weeks old. This is when the little ones are still very sleepy and cooperative. We can schedule the session according to your due date, and play it by ear. Newborn sessions typically last up to 60-90 minutes to allow time for appropriate feedings & changings. Do you provide any props? May I bring my own? I can provide some props. For babies & children I have crochet hats/beanies, headbands with big flowers, pink tutu for the litle girls, pearls & fancy hat ( 8 months and up only!), fluffy white rug for that soft whimsy look, wicker baskets, baby blankets, baby booties, teddy bears, basic numbers signs (1, 2 & 3), tulle. For maternity I have satin semi-sheer fabric for robing, tulle, acrylic paint in blue & pink for belly painting, an array of colored ribbon & tags. Personal props are always welcome! Maybe a favorite blanket or booties, toys, a vintage chair or couch, hats, football/basketball, etc. Can you provide make-up and hair styling? I do have a make-up artist that I am partnered with. She also does light hair styling. Her fees are separate from the session fee. To ensure availability, please inquire before your shoot if you are needing make-up. What is the difference between photo proofs (raw negatives), and the finalized retouched/edited images? Retouched & edited images includes blemish removal, skin smoothing, color corrections, make-up touch up, stylized photos & effects, bw/sepia, softening, etc. See for yourself! Click to view examples. Do you have examples of your Digital Portrait Collages? Absolutely! We provide you with samples at the time of your session and give you the option to choose the ones you want. Do we get a high resolution DVD? If included with your package, you will get a CD with the High-Resolution finalized images. Your CD will always come with a Print Release. Is there any way I can purchase all of the negatives from our session? Yes. For $30 you may purchase a CD of all the original images that you see in our Client Proofing section. These photos are straight from the camera and un-retouched. They are of medium resolution and for your private use only. Will I recieve black and white images in addition to color? You will have the option to choose if you want a specific image in black in white or sepia via our online Client Proofing section. Can you make other stationary, such as Holiday cards or invitations with my session images? Sure! Graphic Design is another niche' of mine. You would just need to give me a general idea of what you want and I can include the digital file on your CD for an additional fee. I can also provide top-quality printing services of your stationary. When can I expect to receive my photos? Proofs usually are up within 3 days. After you have chosen your images to be edited and finalized, turn-around time for your CD is usually a week. For prints, allow 3-5 business days after purchashing your order. How long will my album stay up for ordering, and is there any way to bring it back after it has expired? Your online album (client proofing section) will stay up for 3 months after your photos are completed and finalized. After it's expiration date, there is a $45 archival fee to restore your album for another 3 months. Space is limited and this helps to clear bandwidth for current clients. What if I need to cancel my shoot, or re-schedule because of bad weather? If you have put down a deposit, it will be retained for another date scheduled within 30 days. For bad weather, we can arrange for a session at my indoor studio, or re-schedule a new date entirely. As a courtesy - If your cancellation is not due to an emergency, I kindly ask that you notify me at least 2 days before your shoot. Can my prints be purchased online? Yes. Once your final images are completed, you have the option to order prints directly through our Client Proofing section. Family & friends can do so as well! Can I choose more photos than what is included with my selected package? Of course! If you want to order more photos to be finalized and put on your CD, you can do so in the Client Proofing section. The rate is $5/photo. What are the benefits of ordering prints through your lab, versus a drugstore or department store? While taking your photos to drugstores/department stores for printing can be more convenient, it is not without drawbacks (such as bad cropping, noise, shadows and harsh colors). Ordering directly through BadApple-Photography will ensure that the photos you receive will be of absolute professional quality and are shipped directly to you. You will receive exactly what you see on your monitor, thick durable paper, and many speciality printing style options. Payment Methods? Payments can be made by cash or check. Credit card can be taken in-studio or by phone. Sessions fees are due on the day of the shoot. If paying by cash, *please* try to have exact change ready! What days are you available, and what are your working hours? Studio is open from 11am-6pm everyday, on-location availabilty will vary. Do you carry some sort of Photoshoot "Emergency Kit"? Yes, I do come prepared! To my outdoor sessions, I bring with me a small bag containing: Transclucent face powder & disposable cotton pads, sweat-blotting tissues, wet-wipes, lint remover, bobby pins, safety pins, hairspray, a fine-toothed comb & sanitizing solution, etc. ~Commonly asked Wedding questions~ What is the deposit to retain our wedding date? 15% down is required for weddings & large events. If there is a cancellation, your deposit will be applied towards a re-scheduled date. If there is a second cancellation, you forfeit your deposit and will need to request a re-consultation. Is the deposit refundable? Once I am committed to your date, I will reject all future potential work for that date. Therefore, the deposit is considered non-refundable. Is your wedding package customizable? Absolutely! Maybe you need more than a 7 hour coverage, or maybe you would rather have a traditional wedding album instead of the photo-book. Whatever it is, I make it possible for you to add or remove items and create your perfect wedding package! When is the final balance due? 15% (deposit) of the total fee is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due no later than 2 weeks from the event date. (This can be done at the 2-week follow up.) Do you bring an assistant with you? Yes. I will always bring an assistant with me to help with equipment and bag handling. Sometimes, the assistant may handle a camera as well and take additional shots from my angle. What is the difference between an assistant shooter and a second photographer? As mentioned above, an assistant shooter might handle the back-up camera and take additional shots from the same angle I am standing. The assistant follows and shoots beside me, just to ensure that no special moments are missed from my point of view. A Second Photographer, would be like having a different photographer entirely. They will go off on their own throughout your wedding and shoot your special day from different point of views. For example, while the main Photographer is with the bride & her bridesmaid, the 2nd Photographer could be with the Groom & his groomsmen, and so on. Adding an extra photographer to your package will give you twice as many images and double the coverage of your big day. Will you personally be the photographer at our wedding, or will it be an Associate? We know how important it is to have a familiar face shoot your wedding. For this reason, the photographer that you consult with will be the one shooting your wedding. The only instance where the original photographer cannot be present is in the event of an emergency beyond our control. In this case, we will always notify you, and one of the other in-house photographers will take over as the main Photographer. |
